.dll files wont load in winxp setup

i am attempting to load win xp on a formatted drive.

it gets to like 2% and starts saying it cannot load
a .dll file like winscard.dll

says to hit enter to retry or f3 i believe to skip the
file. if i keep hitting enter it will eventually go
through.

after windows totally loads i get a box that shows up and
says tehre is a registry error log, and it had to load a
previous log copy.

i thought it might be a bad win xp disk so i tried my
other disk and this happened again. so i dont think its
the disk.

is this a hard drive error? how can there be things on
the hard drive after its totally formatted? my files are
ntfs files also

It is quite possible that you have failing hardware. Start by testing
your RAM with something like Memtest86 (www.memtest86.com). Allow the
test to run for a long time, unless you get errors immediately. If you
get any errors, replace the RAM. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic
utility downloaded from the drive mftr.'s website. Usually you will
make a bootable floppy, boot with it, and do a thorough test. If the
drive has errors, replace it.

Well since you tried another cd you've basically nailed it down to
hardware. The question begs why are you, or why are you forced to
re-install windows? Perhaps you were having some odd problems before and
now they are just coming to light in a different way. Perhaps you're
hard drive has some bad areas on it. If you try to zero fill it thus
making it factory fresh and the zero fill fails it's a good sign that
the drive is going bad. On the other hand, I've seen this problem many
times before and often if you put in a new hard drive the same problem
happens. Or it could be ram that's the problem.
