.dll extensions

I was just looking in a folder in my "c:\program files" directory and found
that any file with a .dll extension was showing up (not hidden). This is
the same for any folder containing a .dll extension file.

I went to "My Computer" and opened it up, went to "Tools" and then to
"Folder Options", and finally to "View". Under "Files and Folders" then
"Hidden files and folders" the button for "Do not show hidden files and
folders" IS checked off. So, those .dll files should not be showing up in a
directory.

For the life of me, I cannot figure why they are all showing up, now.
Obviously something has changed but I do not know what.

Any thoughts as to why, and how to make them hidden again?

Under the "Hidden files and folders" both "Hide extensions for known file types" and "Hide Protected operating system files (Recommended)" are checked off, so they should not show up.

If I look at the properties for any .dll file, the "Hidden" check box is unchecked, so it is going to show up.

Is there a way to change the attributes (change to hidden) of all .dll files with one command line? Or with a Windows "check box"?
