Distored sound, cracking and popping

Hello, I am getting a cracking or popping sound when visualizations are
turned on in various media players. The cracking and popping goes away if
visualizations are not on. I have tried updating Windows Media Player,
reseating the sound and video cards, updating drivers for the sound, video
and monitor, etc. Please help!

It could be the equalizers. Go here to check it. Open WMP, click the View
tab>
Enhancements>Equalizer. Now look at the bottom of the screen on the left
and you'll have choice of three round circles, select the center one. If
that doesn't work, try the top or bottom ones. Good luck. :~)
