A while ago I had a DVD move and I played it on my computer. Don't remember
what program I used.

I have one now and can not figure out how to display it.

It has three folders. One is VIDEO_TS

Which contains many files of types .BUP, .IFO and .VOB

I have Windows Media player, Quicktime and something from Dell.

Can you get me started? How do I display it?

Thanks

You can play a DVD using Windows Media Player, but you'll need some codecs
(compressor/decompressor software) from another source. Microsoft doesn't
supply them. I believe that there may be free codecs available for download
on the Web, but I haven't tried any.

Or, use a third-party player like WinDVD or PowerDVD. (I have WinDVD6.) They
aren't free, but they are available as time-limited free demos. One or the
other is usually included with a new computer with a DVD drive, or with a
separately purchased drive.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

You need a DVD decoder, such as WinDVD or PowerDVD to play it.
Media Player and Quicktime don't play DVDs. Perhaps the program from Dell
will. What's the name of the program ??

Now that I've got it playing I find I must go someplace and need to return
the DVD before I can watch it.

Can I copy it to my hard disk and view it later.

Thanks again

Thanks,
As it turned out I didn't have time to copy it anyway.
I'm not big on movies as might be guessed by how little I knew about
watching the loaned DVD someone thought I should see.
