display settings unstable

setting resolution to 600X800 at 16 bits aan not be fixed permanently. What
is wrong? How do I fix it?
 
Why would you use such limited colours. Use the 32 bit at the highest
resolution you can get. The higher the res the clearer the picture as there
are more pixels. {]:~)
