Display Settings in XP Home

In Windows XP Home, under Display Settings, we have set the Color Quality to
the 32-bit level. If at some the computer is shut down, when it is
restarted these settings are automatically reset to 8-bit. What is required
to maintain the setting at 32-bit?

your video card have the drivers already installed?
in winXP, when the system not can find the driver of the vídeo card he uses
the "vgasafe", who is 8bits.
if the drivers are açlresdy installed, try to remove them and reinstall
