Hi,
I've scanned the groups looking for an answer to my problem and have
finally given up, although some posts were similar.
I have recently got a new Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop with Windows XP.
I find that the optimum resolution is far too small and using larger
icons etc puts any text and graphics that I have overlaid in my
applications out of sync.
I therefore put up with a slightly fuzzy, but reasonably sized,
setting of 1024 x 768, which does me fine and I would like to keep it
that way.
However the system (I don't know if it's XP or something to do with
graphic drivers) randomly decides that I want my settings different.
Sometimes I will be in the middle of work when it suddenly changes to
800 x 600, although it is most likely to do it overnight when it's
been sleeping. Often it will change the flat panel settings so that I
get a perfect, but miniscule, impression of my screen in the middle.
I am obviously able to re-set these things but it is an irritation
that I feel I shouldn't have to tolerate in a new machine.
Please, can anyone enlighten me on whether this is an XP fault that I
can get round or if I should be getting the Dell man out?
Thanks.
Joan
