display resolution problem

Hi all :

Every morning I have to set up the display resolution and the colors, I set
manually to 24 bit colors and 1024x768 resolution and
works fine all day but the next day when I turn up the machine it came on
640x480 resolution and 16 colors and I have to set up again.
My video card is an integrated Intel 82865G that came with a Dimension DELL
1100 and the driver version is 6.14.10.4396

thanks for any help

1. Did you apply the Dell graphics driver update that was on the last
Windows Update? If you have Windows Updates set to install
automatically and/or you chose to install the driver (bad, bad idea to
install drivers from Windows Update) then you probably did. This caused
a tremendous amount of problems for users. So first try to roll back
the driver:

2. If #1 isn't applicable, then update the driver from Dell's website
for your specific model Dimension.

3. If #1 isn't applicable and #2 doesn't work, the video chip itself is
probably dying. Either replace it yourself with an add-in video card
(check your motherboard to see what kind you need - AGP, PCI, PCI-e) OR
if the machine is still under warranty contact Dell for tech support.

Sounds like you need to install the .icm file for your monitor.
Under device manager does it list your specific monitor or does it say
"plug&play" monitor?
