Brand new Compaq laptop with only MS Updates and Av updates done, Two users,
both admin
I switched users, display immediately corrupted i.e. it appeared as though
it
had 'lost' adapter became 640*480 low colour.
Any attempt to alter display settings gave msg ' may not have rights to
change settings' Certain display settings were 'greyed' out.
Tried removing monitor then adapter from system and rebooting to no avail.
Nothing shown as wrong in hardware. Tried find new hardware
Eventually on 'nth' reboot, system returned all OK, no msgs about
reinstalling
hardware etc
Am puzzled as to what/why this all occurred - any clues?

Brand new Compaq - take it back immediately. There is some sort of
hardware failure and it will only get worse.
