Display problem

I have windows XP - Dell Inspiron - attempting to install Hewlett Packard
All in one printer.

During install of CD, it requires a display -
SVGA 800x600 with 16 bit color.
the adapter that is present = 800x600 4bit minimal.

Where and how do I get the necessary driver?

That would be a minimal requirement, and your regular XP display should
be substantially better. That driver though, if you find you really
*must* use it, will be obtained if you Start - Run MSconfig.exe and on
its Boot.ini page check /BASEVIDEO
Then exit and reboot to use it. You will need to run MSConfig.exe again
and uncheck to go back to normal when done. There will be a message
about 'System Configuration Utility'. Check the 'Do not show again' box
and exit
