Display on Microsoft Outlook 2007 Calendar

I've recently "upgraded" (and the scare quotes are intentional) from
XP to Vista, and am now setting up my calendar in Outlook 2007. Is
there any way to do any of the following (in order of priority):

(1) Set the Calendar screen in "Week" view to display only
appointments, without the "hourly" grid; in effect, is there a way to
emulate the "Week" (and not the "Work Week") view from Outlook 2003?

(2) Display start and end times for appointments, as could be done in
Outlook 2003 (there is a check box for "display end times" next to
"Month View" in the "Customize Current View" dialog box, but it
doesn't seem to do anything)?

(3) Shrink the size of the display in the "Week" view, so that one
isn't in the position of being unable to view the end of the day from
the beginning, and vice versa?

Is it just me, or has Microsoft gone out of its way to make Outlook
2007 far *less* customizable than the 2003 version? I have searched
various customizations on line, and the answer for every one of them
seems to be "You can no longer do that."

Thanks for any help.

Re the weekly display, you can set it to a timescale of 60 minutes via
Customize View>Other Settings then the whole day fits without
scrolling; I still can't get the month view to show all the
appointments in a day though - it seems to try spreading them in
pseudo-time spacing leaving blank rows during the working day but so
evening appointments don't show. Clicking the radio button from High
to medium detail causes all the text vanish! As you say, I'm sure
there are many improvements - I just haven't found them yet...

Brian:

Thanks for your response. I too figured out the "60 minute" trick;
unfortunately, this has the result of making closely-spaced appointments
difficult to distinguish, especially because, as I noted in my initial post,
the display now no longer shows the actual time of the appointments.

By the way, one work-around I've begun to use is to run the "To-Do Bar" on
the right side of the calendar. This has the effect of showing at least the
first few upcoming appointments, *complete" with starting and ending times.
It's an inelegant solution, but unless someone lets us know something better,
it's better than nothing.
