Display of inactive network adapter icons in the Windows XP taskbar

After unchecking the "Show icon in the notification area when
connected" the icon for an NIC thats not connected still shows up. How

is this disabled?
 
Hi draegon,

Have you tried disabling that NIC in Device Manager?
