Display does not align text properly

Hi I apologize in advance if this is the wrong venue, I can't figure out WHY
this is happening so if this is NOT Vista related I apologize for the
inconvenience and if possible, I would appreciate if you someone could please
re-direct me to the appropriate Website.
Let me begin my novella, I have Lenovo IdeaCentre K210 system running Vista
HP, it has 3GB RAM, 500G HD with a video adapter/card integrated in an Intel
Chipset31/33. The monitor is a Viewsonic VX2433 Model VS12324 and there
appears to be a conflict / incompatibility somewhere because the displays
does not performing properly.
Specifically, some of the pages that I view are either are cut off or
overlap and when I open some applications the lines on the display do align
properly. For example when I open Taxcut, if there is a YES and NO box to be
checked off, the YES box would line up next to the NO Box and the NO Box
would line up under the NO box (next to nothing), instead of being next to
the NO Box.
This not only is annoying but creates lots of problems especially when
working with the taxes because with the boxes do not line-up properly, I am
not sure where if I making the correct entry (when I check a box).
The Lenovo system and Viewsonic display are a couple of months old and I
updated the Vista, the Viewsonic VX2433 driver and installed the most current
Intel Chipset driver but the problem still continues.
I contacted Viewsonic and they advised me "the lining up of the boxes is
coming not from the monitor but the incoming signal (video card issue)" so it
appears that Viewsonic is advising me to purchase a new video/graphics
adapter but when I check the specs for the video adapter on the Intel
Chipset, it appears that it is capable of supporting a 16x9 format 1920x1080
display.
Lenovo has replaced the Motherboard and the Viewsonic display has been
exchanged so my guess is that whatever is causing this problem is probably
not due to defective HW but by a SW conflict and thought that it might be a
Vista problem.
I would appreciate if someone can help me figure this out / steer me in the
right direction as to WHAT is causing this problem, what can I do to fix it
and
do I really need a new video adapter (as Viewsonic suggests)?
Thank you in advance for your help guys,
Bob

Right now I don't think you have a "vista problem". You need to fill in
some blanks as to what setting and any other things you have changed and
when.
Does this only happen with the program Tax cut? If so Uninstall it and then
read the necessary help files at their web site to install it correctly.
Are there any Programs you can run that this does NOT effect? Name the
programs and their version number your having problems with.
If this happens with every program you open, you will need to check your
monitor setting. If LCD set to the native resolution.
How long has this been going on and when did this start.? You say your
Video graphics is on board. You say a New Mother board that's basically a
new computer and is it the same as the one you had?
Why did Viewsonic replace your monitor? Did you ship all this back to the
manufactures or take it to some retail geek squad?
If you have a Vista disk I personally would flatten and start over
considering the information available. But a Vista problem, I don't think
so.

Right now I don't think you have a "vista problem".
I appreciate your help Karen / Hallie and glad that one of the elements
(Vista) has been eliminated. I realize that this is a Microsoft Support
board and this is a Vista forum and you have removed Vista as "the problem"
so I should be seek help somewhere else.
If you could direct me where I can look (Lenovo and Viewsonic have been dead
ends), I would appreciate it and will respond to the remaining questions in
the event that you are kind enough to take this further

Does this only happen with the program Tax cut?.
It happens with several program, Taxcut is the one that I have been working
with recently and it is very confusing when the boxes do not align properly.
It happens when I open a Webpage (using both IE7.0 and Mozilla), some of the
text is cut off at the top

Are there any Programs you can run that this does NOT effect?
Most application programs Word, Excel, among others work just fine

Name the programs and their version number your having problems with.

I would like to defer on this since I think the best way to do this would be
to open all the applications that I have installed and report it back to you
so before I do this, I want to insure that this si what you need?

If LCD set to the native resolution.
The monitor is set at 1920 x 1080

How long has this been going on and when did this start.?
You say your Video graphics is on board. You say a New Mother board that's
basically a
new computer and is it the same as the one you had?
Why did Viewsonic replace your monitor?
I think it would be easier to bundle all these into one response. I
purchased a Lenovo system and a Viewsonic monitor from separate retailers and
immediately began experiencing a problem with the monitor. Lenovo identified
it as a faulty graphics adapter and replaced the MB at the same time, I
returned the Viewsonic display and upgraded to a larger model so I have had
this problem with 2 separate Lenovo – Viewsonic configurations

If you have a Vista disk I personally would flatten and start over
considering the information available.
If at all possible, I would like to fix what I have and don’t believe that
breaking everything down and then starting over is going to help since this
is the SECOND Lenovo-Viewsonic configuration and the problem has occurred on
both so I am not sure that reinstalling Vista is going to get me better
results

But a Vista problem, I don't think so
Well I’m glad that you were able to eliminate one of the elements, I don’t
know what else it could be? If I’m not mistake it HAS TO BE either the Lenovo
system (software), the Intel Chipset or the Viewsonic driver?
I really appreciate your help in bring me one step closer to figuring this
out.
Thanks,
Bob

I realize that this is a Microsoft Support
board and this is a Vista forum and you have removed Vista as "the
problem"
*Not* "a Microsoft Support board or forum"
This is a Newsgroup, anyone can post or reply to any post. All that chose
to respond to questions do it voluntarily.
No one using these newgroups is on Microsoft pay roll. There maybe
Microsoft employees that use this newsgroup the same as anyone else can.
I have Lenovo IdeaCentre K210 system running Vista HP
Is your Vista HP a 32 bit or 64 bit? Sp1 or not?
If I’m not mistake it HAS TO BE either the Lenovo
system (software), the Intel Chipset or the Viewsonic driver?
You maybe on to something. I don't know much about Lenovo as to what all
they bundled on your system but some of their software sounds a little
tricky.
In my experience all the bundled software that you get with these types of
branded non-custom built PCs just get in the way of having a clean system.
I would try to get rid of all the software Lenovo added, but that’s just me.

an Intel Chipset 31/33. installed the most current
Intel Chipset driver but the problem still continues.
You did download the driver from Lenovo Support site, right?
I purchased a Lenovo system and a Viewsonic monitor from separate retailers
and

identified

When the _retailer_ of the Lenovo replaced the Mother Board (MOB) would they
NOT have
tested the before operation and then after replacing the (MOB) tested your
system and *the
software in question* to determine you were good to go and the your problem
was solved?

Or did you pick up your computer take it home start it up. Configure Vista,
add a standard user account checked
to make sure your system was up to date and running successfully and then
you had to reinstall _all_ *your* software programs.
And it was then you started having the same problems you were having with
the old MOB. If this is your case its software *your* software, if not
then take it back to the retailer and get a *different* machine or your
money back.

This part of your issue seems strange to me. Do you have a Vista DVD disc?
If not try to get one from Lenovo or the Lenovo retailer.
Check with the distributors of the software you have installed and see if
there are any issues you need or needed to address before you installed, as
it pertains to your version of Vista.

good luck
