In one day my hd went from having 8.2gb on it to 10.9gb. I have not loaded anything only program that has changed is Zone Alarm Pro. I updated to the new 5.0 version which I found has problems. I uninstalled and reloaded Zone Alarm 4.5 which I have had for awhile. I have run antivirus scan, spyware scan and adaware scan and all were negative. I have run disk cleanup, cleared temp files, all history files, media files, cleared everything I can thank of and still did not recover any hard drive space. Can anyone thank of what this maybe. Thanks so much in advance

40g hard drive
Nothing running different in msconfig.

The extra space may be allocated to System Restore. Go to the System
Volume information folder, right-click on it, choose properties and
see how big it is. You could go to My Computer > System restore tab
and select how much hard drive space you want SR to have.

Good luck

No that is not it either, I have cleared system restore except for the last restore point, also it is not virtual memory
Thanks.

Hi,

It might be the hibernation file, hibernate.sys. Also if you have
Norton, check the Norton Recycle bin.

Also you can use check disk (start > Run > chkdsk /r
and pressing y to check upon the next boot).

Good luck

No hibernation was not it either and I have emptied nortons recycle bin. I have checked folders & files and everything I can think of and can not find the extra 2gb of used space. I have run check disk and defag. I do not know. Thanks.
