Hello
After fully installing Windows XP Pro and all the updates, latest
drivers for my peripherals, etc.... everything was working fine.
This morning, when I booted, I received the message:
"A disk read error has occured, press ctrl-alt-del to reboot".
Which I did a few times, with exactly the same results. I then tried
to boot on the Win XP CD and after seeing the usual "Setup is
inspecting your hardware..." message, the screen went black and
nothing more... Once again, I tried that a few times with the same
results.
I then disconnected the drive and tried again to boot on the CD. It
worked.
Reconnected the drive, tried booting on CD and on HD, no change. Got
the same results as above.
Tonight, I will probably try to remove the drive and connect it as
slave on my second computer to see if I can read it from there.
Meanwhile, can anyone tell me what is happenning and how I can solve
this problem??? I have important data on the HD, which are not part of
my latest backup.
Thank you for your help!!!
