Disk read error....

Friend has an XP machine that is giving him the following error message when
he tries to boot up...

"disk read error occured, depress ctrl, alt, del to start"

Of course when he hits ctrl, alt, del, it does the same thing again.

Anyone got a cure? I am going to his house in the morning.
