Disk read error

When I start my computer it goes through the memory check
and device check fine but after or during verifying data
pool, my computer says disk read error hit ctrl alt dlte
to restart. After a few tries of fiddling with the cmos
settings it finally starts. After this it restarts fine.
Help.

Done a full CHKDSK on your hard drive lately?

I did a CHDSK and everything is fine, I even tried a

diagnostic tool from maxtor and it also said that my
drive was ok. It actually says verifying dmi pool not
data pool as I previously stated. Then it comes up disk
read error. Should I just reinstall windows. Help!
