Disk I/O activity icon in task bar - a programming idea

I'd love to see a mini-icon in the box on the lower-right of my XP
screen that blinked when the disk was busy. If there was more than
one disk, there would be an icon for each disk.

Some bells and whistles are obvious; red for write activity, green for
reads and all colors in-between when mixed. Clicking on the icon would
call up some statistics or even a history graph.

the same think for the Ethernet connection would also work,

i think this just uses resources. almost all computers have a light
indicating disk access. eathernet usage may be interesting but i think
there is no usage.

kind regards
