disk errors in event log

Sorry for the cross post, not sure where this should go...

I just got a new rig that has a 160gb Maxtor SATA HD. I installed a 2nd
160 IDE drive mainly for backups, (a WD 160GB $40 special from Best
Buy). I've been getting the errors below in the system portion of the
event log indicating some type of timeout.

Type error event-id 15
The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, is not ready for access yet.

I've also changed the cable, Swapped the IDE channel with the DVD burner
but the problem follows the drive. I've even replaced the drive
thinking it was defective but the errors persist. Diags on the drive
turn up nothing.

I don't see any problem using the drive, but I'm wondering what these
errors are indicating and if I should be concerned.

Thanks for any replies!
