Disk doctor

I get this message when I run Norton Disk Doctor:
"The operating system, or another process, currently have
exclusive access to this drive, or some of its files,
Norton Disk Doctor cannot continue with a repair under
these conditions."
Anyone, please advise on what to do in order to let it fix
errors.
Thank you.

I have Norton Systemworks installed, but I rarely use WinDoctor.

I believe that all that it's doing is invoking the XP disk checking utility.
You can do the same from a command line window. Open one from Accessories,
or by running "cmd" (without the quotes) from start/run. Enter "chkdsk /f
c:" (again without the quotes; this assumes that c is the boot drive).
You'll be told that the volume is in use by another process, and then asked
whether you'd like to schedule it to run the next time XP starts. (Give it a
"y".) You may also enter "chkdsk /f c:" directly into start/run.

You can find more about chkdsk by typing "chkdsk /?" in a command window.

One thing that I dislike about this is that when chkdsk is complete, the
system reboots immediately, so there's no time to read some of the messages
it displays.

Assuming it's the boot drive, run chkdsk and reboot the system to
allow it to complete the process.
