There are a number of possible reasons for the problem. Before exploring
these I need to make a point. Please take care to avoid mistyping
words. Your version of the error message contained two errors. If you do
this when carrying out some suggestions you will not get the right
result.
Check that you have a pagefile. Select Start, Control Panel, System,
Advanced tab, Performance -Settings, Change. You will see details of how
large is your pagefile.and on which drive it is located. If there is no
pagefile or the pagefile is not on your C drive this could be the cause
of your problem. Please confirm the details of what you find.
Select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and right
click on Logical Disk Manager Service and select Properties. The StartUp
type should be Manual.. What is it? The Service Status should show as
Stopped. Click on Start and check that the Service Status changes to
Started.
Select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and right
click on Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service and select
Properties. The StartUp type should be Manual.. What is it? The Service
Status should show as Stopped. Click on Start and check that the Service
Status changes to Started.
If either Service fails to Start we will need to investigate why.
Select Start, Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\regsvr32
%SystemRoot%\system32\dfrgsnap.dll and click on OK. What message do you
get as a response?
Select Start, Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\regsvr32
%SystemRoot%\system32\dfrgui.dll and click on OK. What message do you
get as a response?
Now try to run Disk Defragmenter. What happens? If it dos not runs what
is the message you see?
If Disk Defragmenter does not run there are other things we can try.
