Disk Defragmenter taking too long

Guys,

I've got a couple of issues with Disk Defragmenter and a big storage system
(275 GB, single partition, NTFS, 4KB cluster size):

1. Disk Defragmenter seems not to show the entire size of the partition.
According to the report (and to Explorer) I have about 75 GB of free space,
but I don't see any white colored region in the Analysis and Defragmentation
display; I just have several green, blue and red region: is that normal?
2. Disk Defragmenter takes LOOONG time to defragment the disk. I've launched
a defrag yesterday night with no user connected and in 7 hours it just
completed about 10% of the disk.

Any advise?

TIA,

Andrea

Well it is straight forward. As you unpack the new drive you should
think out how to use it - it does not make sense at all to leave any
drive without partitions.
I saw one poor fellow who was running C drive as a 200 GB un
partitioned drive. He claims that the computer runs 24/7. What happens
when the operating system get fouled up and he has to reformat and set
it up again.
Anyone running more than 100 GB in a drive needs to move over and let
someone else be the administrator. I have a grandchild whom I would
trust to do better.

For your information, my stats are:
Win 2000, Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
1 Gb memory,ADSL
200+200 GB disks partitioned C:D:E;as 7.81,80.84.97.65
F: G: as 88.65,97.66 for data
