Okey doke: True Image isn't the only one wasting my time.
True Image copies my 40 gig drive into an 80 gig partition. 12 hours.
Used Partition Magic to turn 60 gig partition into a 40 gig partition and 40
gig unallocated: 2 hours. Copying that 40 gig partition into the unallocated
space as an additional backup: 55% done, 8 hours!
3.0GHz Notebook using USB2.0 and Acronis True Image V9.0:
Doing a full image backup of the 80GB internal drive to a 200GB
external drive took approximately 2 hours.
Subsequent image verification took 45 minutes.
Bottom line: No matter how you cut it you're moving a ton of bits and
it ain't over fiber...
FWIW: My computer was still responsive while True Image 9.0 performed
the image backup. I can understand how with their incremental image
backup capability they can monitor what changes on the disk even while
they're backing up the disk, but this can only slow down the process
and just outright sounds scary to me...
