Disk Clone/Backup Software

Ok - I have done a fresh install of Vista Home Premium 32 bit and installed
SP1 - I have all the hardware and progs I want installed and running - all
working a treat. So is there any free software I can use to clone the hard
disk so I can restore my system to its current condition? If not free what
would anyone recommend?

Hi:

You might consider doing what I did. I bought a new WD 250GB (OEM) HD on
the web for $60 plus dollars and cloned it using Western Digital's Data
Lifeguard Tools free software. Now I have the cloned HD just sitting in my
computer case ready to go anytime that I wish with just minor jumper and
connections. BTW the HD is the same identical HD that came with my Sony
desktop, however, this is not necessary....just a coincidence.

Just a note about WD OEM HD's. If you can find the same HD in retail box
or configuration it will be much simpler, as I had no software including
installation instructions and mounting screws. With some extra effort I got
it all accomplished, but it would be much simpler with the retail HD package
than OEM. It costs a little more, but in the long run would probably been
worth it.
