My elderly friend ran disk cleanup on his Vista ( I have XP so not familiar
with this procedure ). He selected to run it on OS or some such option
rather than his C drive. Since I help straighten out his mistakes, could he
have done any harm by using Disk Cleanup as he did?
Thank so much.

Disk cleanup is ok to use. It's available on XP also.
Open (My) Computer, right-click on a hard drive, select Properties.

It deletes temporary files, empties the Recycle bin, etc.

The hibernation file might have been deleted which will disable hibernation

To turn it on, type cmd in search box above Start Orb, at the top of the window,
right click cmd.exe choose Run as Administrator and type powercfg -h on

Dave, I guess I didn't explain myself very well... I do use Disk Cleanup on
my XP system but it automatically cleans your C drive. In Vista , for some
reason, you have options to select where as well as what to cleanup.

I "disk clean" my c: drive as well as other HDD's connected to my system.
