Disk Cleanup

When I try and use disk cleanup (my computer, right-click
hard drive, properties, disk cleanup), the message box
says it is checking to see how much space I can clear,
but it just stops after a few seconds and never
finishes. Are there any ideas what is going on here or
how to fix it? Thank you, Doug S.

I would think you are freezing at the "Compress Old Files" stage which is
rather common in XP for some reason. Go here and scroll down to Line 48,
then download the file on the right side [stay away from "Undo" on the far
right side] and run it for a fix.
