I have experienced the same problem. Has your question

been answered? My disk cleanup utility works on my
secondary hard disk but freezes on my primary hard disk.

I have just noticed the past few days that I can't run
the "disk cleanup" or the "de frag" either!! I thought
maybe it was because I had loaded the earthlink "total
access" which had caused several problems, so I
uninstalled the "total access" and I still have the
mainenance problem. I have also noticed the programs
seem to have really slow down after I try to use
the "disk clean up"....it is like something locks up!! L

Try removing 'compress old files'.
