disk cleanup

I am unable to get my "disk Cleanup" to work. I seems to hang up. I know I have a bunch of old files that need to be removed but am unable to. I clicked start, run and typed in cleanmgr. also but this doesn't work either. Any help would be much appreciated.
 
The utility probably hangs when compressing files,the fix for it,go
to search at microsoft.com,type:812248
