disk cleanup "trigger level"

D

DSL-Dave

Can someone direct me to the proper place to change the "trigger level" for
disk cleanup.
I am getting a disk cleanup notification far more frequently than I would
like.
I do not suspect a virus, or any "nastyware", as I've recently run both
Ad-Aware and SpyBot.
Thanks,

Hi Ramesh,

Thank you for the information, however, upon checking the registry, the
DWORD value is already set to "1."

I am thinking that somewhere, there is a value which tells Disk Cleanup WHEN
to notify about low disk space.
Possibly this value has been set too low (seems to trigger whenever there is
around 1MB of deleted files.)

I thought it may have been something malicious, however, I have run both
Ad-Aware and SpyBot and find nothing harmful. The Disk Cleanup pop-up window
appears many times during a 1 or 2 hour session.
Any other ideas?

Thanks again,

Dave, Check if you have any jobs in task scheduler which triggers the Disk
Cleanup.

Also, chk this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er\NoLowDiskSpaceChecks

If not present, create and set the value "1" as you did before.

Hi Ramesh,

It appears that the Task Scheduler may be the culprit. I changed the
schedule to once per week, instead of When Idle, and I will see if this
solves the problem.

For some reason, the Task Scheduler icon is NOT appearing in the SysTray, so
I guess, "out of sight, out of mind!"
Thanks again,
