Disk Cleanup Program

My Disk Cleanup Program has quit working. It starts to
compress old files and then locks up or quits working and
does not finish showing how many files I can delete to
free up more space on my C hard drive. When I first got
XP Home Addition it worked fine. Since I have used the
Defragmentation program Disk Cleanup will not work. My
Disk Deframentation program compresses the old files,
etc. and works fine. How can I reset my Disk Cleanup
program to get it to work again? I do not want to have
to reinstall Windows XP Home Addition just to get the
Disk Cleanup program to start working again.

and with the following gibber, the Holy Lord Kalten replies:

1) You can perform each of the tasks seperately, like go to Internet options
and manually delete the files, go into recycle bin and manually delete etc.
2) You can boot into safe mode and try to perform the operations.

This is a common problem in XP. Go to this site for a fix:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm . When you get there, scroll
down to Line 48 and look at the right side; click on the Disk Cleanup part,
stay away from "undo".
