Hello,
In the past, I used Disk Cleanup on Windows XP with no problem. I would
check all boxes except Compress Unused Files (I think that's the name of
it).
One day I put a check mark in Compress Unused Files and did Disk Cleanup for
a few weeks with no problem...all boxes checked.
As weeks went on, it took longer and longer to finish a Disk Cleanup...I
assumed it was because it was scanning the compressed files.
Now, all of a sudden, I can't get into Disk Cleanup at all. It says it's
scanning the compressed files, but it takes forever...like over two hours (I
performed Disk Cleanup and went to sleep, when I woke up, it still said it
was scanning).
I get impaitent and click cancel. I haven't done a Disk Cleanup in awhile
because it looks like it has frozen up. I can't uncheck the Compress Unused
files box because the window that normally pops up never appears (or maybe
it will, I just can't wait three hours).
It it just scanning the compressed files and should I wait? Or is something
wrong?
Thank you in advance,
bob
