Disk Cleanup Freezes

Hello,Can anyone tell me how to fix disk cleanup for windows XP Home,when I
Start it, it acts like it is frozen or locked up, is stuck on the part that
says compressing old files, doesn't process any further, I Have tried
running it for as long as half an hour but nothing moves or changes,can
someone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it?

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and
answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right
clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
