cleaning up the harddisk

Hi

When I use the Cleanup harddisk from accessories->System Tool to clean up
the disk, it always stuck at clean up the compressing data and cannot
progress. How to fix this problem?

You probably have a lot of data on the drive and it will take quite some
time to compress files that haven't been accessed recently. I'd leave
it alone until it completes the operation, or not bother compressing
unless you need to.

Walk away from your computer. Leave it be. Eventually things will
progress.

It IS progressing. It can take a LONG time though.

You can disable that feature, but I can't recall ofhand.

Google for "stop Compressing files", or something similar.

Thanks for all reply.
I have left it for 2 hours, but it is still hanging at scanning the compress
stage. The red light of the harddisk is not flashing.
