delete this item without any problems?

I don't THINK so (I might be wrong).

Those files are infrequently used... doesn't mean that you don't need
them.

I was of the opinion that the program was prompting you that it would
compress the old files to save space. And the size it displayed is how
much you would save. Not remove them.
But I always uncheck the box.
