disk clean up fails

disk clean up fails / locks up at message "calculating
how much space you will be able to free on C:" Says
Calculating: process reaches approx 10 % of indicator
bar -with "compress old files" - then locks up - never
been able to do disk clean since new (3 years) even in
safe mode

++ since insatlling ADSL machine is very slow

XP home with SP1 - Acer laptop travelmate pentium III -
34 % free disk space

Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.

Slow after ADSL:
Go to the manufacturers website of and get the latest Windows XP
drivers.
