Disk boot failure w/o XP CD

OK if I do not have my WinXP Home disk in my CD-ROM than Windows wil
not boot up. It will give me disk boot failure or some other weir
message. Also I can not seem to turn off boot from disk from boot up.
have turned all boot devices to HDD-0, but it still does this. And i
you need to know my hard drive is the primary master and the jumper i
plugged in as default; left to right on the bottom 3 & 4 pins.

*A little back story, but might not be important*

OK I got a replacement hard drive in the mail cus the one I had was no
working. When I first got the hard drive I plugged it in as the primar
master and partitioned it with an internet made Windows 98SE boot disk
Than I plugged in my CD-RW as the primary slave, but for some reason i
did not recongize the partition I made after I did that. That
partitioned it over and over again and it did not recongize any of the
and I finally unplugged my CD-RW and it still had my old partition.

Than just to be safe, I erased the partition and created another one
Than I formatted and tried to install Windows, but it would never loa
up the installation. Oh you should know that my CD-ROM was plugged i
as the secondary slave. (I have both a regualr CD-ROM and CD-RW.)

Than I got fed up and finally put in my upgrade disk of Windows XP Hom
Edition. It formatted my computer to NTFS and installed Windows, bu
than I noticed this problem. So can anyone help me
