Disk boot failure? And bad sectors?

I have two question.

For my first question this is my 3rd time reformating. AFter i reformate
when i restart my pc, after the PCI device listing, the message " Disck boot
failure, insert system disk and press enter" Why does this keep comming up?
Is there something im doing wrong? I just refotmated and dont understand
whats going on.

Also for my 2nd question the reason i had to reformate something wierd
happened to my Raid 0 setup happened and i lost all my information. Some
reason my one harddrive status is : broken and i dont know how to fix it? I
did a quick diag and it gave me a few bad sectors. Is that hdd garbage now or
is there away to freeze the bad sectors?

One of your hard drives is failing. Test both drives with a diagnostic
utility from the mftr. Download the file and make a bootable floppy or
cd with it. Boot with the media and do a thorough test. If the drive
has physical errors, replace it. Software solutions (reinstalling
Windows) for hardware problems are useless.

With RAID 0, if one drive fails your entire RAID array is b0rked. RAID
0, while sounding sexy and exciting, is really just a very good way to
lose your data. It will not noticeably speed up your gaming, either.
There was a study done of this on Tom's Hardware sometime this past
year which showed these very surprising results. Google for it.

Alright I delete the RAID array. Then i scaned both Hdd. The one came out
with a few bad sectors so i removed that hdd. I took my good 160 gig hdd
reformated it and installed windows. After i got done install my GFX drivers
i restarted and i get the same message. What is going on this is really
getting on my nerves.

Make sure "anti-virus" is disabled in the bios.

Well, you're off to a good start at last, having detected and replaced
the bad hardware. Overclocking? Did you test RAM too?

Now there's a doomed approach, heh heh...

Chances are one of...

1) Something in the boot order that is being booted before the HD

2) Wrong HD is booting first

3) HD doesn't have the correct code present in the Master
Boot Record (MBR)

4) The boot partition is not marked as active

5) The correct code is not present in the Partition Boot Record (PBR)

6) The OS files are not where they are supposed to be on "C:"

7) The OS isn't where C:\Boot.ini says it is

I'd guess (1-4) as most likely, or no HD is set to boot.

If using RAID, the way the HD(s) is/are set up off RAID may not work
within the RAID, and you may need something other than the standard
MBR code to be in place. RAID complicates things, esp. for boot HD.

Well duh, there's your answer. Bad sectors (or bad clusters) are bad
news, and should not be confused with lost cluster chains or corrupted
files. Bad sectors or clusters are always hardware, unless you imaged
a volume from a defective HD to a good one and thus inherited a bad
cluster map that is no longer appropriate.

Amen!

If you have Bart CDR to hand, I'd run HD Tune from that and see what
that says about HD temperature, SMART details, and surface scan. If
HDs are hot and/or not properly chassis-grounded, bad things happen.
