Disk-based text editor?

Hi,

I'm looking for free disk-based text editors.
Just to clarify, a disk-based editor is an editor that has the
unique capability of *instantly* opening files of any size (up
to several GBs and more) while consuming minimal RAM. This is
accomplished by only loading small chunks of the file at any
given time. (Ultraedit does this perfectly but it is shareware)

Any suggestions?

JujuEdit has a "file on disk" mode and can open files up to 2GB.

The author has plans to increase the limit:

I personally don't know about 2GB files, but it opens files up to 100MB
instantly, with a RAM usage of less than 5MB.

Main problem: you can have any background color you like,
as long as it is bright white or inverted bright white.

On the plus side: Can use proportional fonts like Times.

I consider that a bug, not a feature... But I'm more interested in
function then form...
