Hi,

Using FP2000 - is it possible to somehow make the "from" name in the
contents frame a link, so that browsers may click on to a profile of the
message poster which already exists elsewhere in the site?

If not, any ideas about a forum applet that allows such customisation?

You need to look for a database driven forum application, written in ASP, ASP.net, PHP, etc.
depending on what is supported by your web host.
