disconnecting

alright ima do my best to give all the info on my situation as possible, if i
leave anythin important out just let me know....ok so i switched to netzero a
week or so ago and after i downloaded netzero's updates and tried to connect
again, the netzero box that comes up with the inbox, web, and options buttons
goes to open but then netzero disconnects. ive checked my event viewer after
this has happened but it hasnt flagged anything relevant, anything that
couldve been causing the problem in the even viewer turned out not to be the
cause when ive gone in and repaired it. its been a week straight now that ive
been torturing myself over this. any help would be GREATLY apreciated. thanks
in advance.

then click Hi,

First of all would this happen to be a dialup account? If so, who did you
have your internet with before? Did you uninstall the other internet software
first? If you open Internet Explorer & Click Tools-Internet Options then
click Connections, what do you see in that Window? Is Dial whenever a network
connection is not present selected? Have you tried going into Internet
Options & Clicking on SETUP? While there if you will choose the bottom option
saying you want to manually setup your internet connection. Click next then
choose modem then click next. Make sure your internal or external modem is in
list then click next. Now enter in the phone number you need to dial to
connect to NETZERO. DO NOT USE AREA CODE & uncheck (Use area code and dialing
rules and just enter the entire phone number wth the area code then click
next. Type in your username and password then click next. Now type Netzero
connection & phone number then click next Select No to setup EMAIL account
then click next then click finish. Now if you will right click and go to
properties on (My Network Places) you should see the icon that says Netzero
Connection with the phone number. I suggest you drag and drop a copy on your
desktop. Once you click on it you should click DIAL and then once it is
connected you can go from there.

If this doesn't work double check to make sure you have no other option in
Internet Optons- Connections for the other ISP. If you do then delete it from
the list and make sure the one you created is the default choice. Please let
us know if this helps.

alright i did everything you said and set up a manual connection, but i keep
getting "error 718 The connection was terminated because the remote computer
did not respond in a timely manner."
and i used to have aol but uninstalled it just this morning.
