discconect logs off user

upon disconnecting from RDC a message appears to indicate that programs will
continue to run and should be active on reconnect, that is, disconnecting
does not log the user off. But when I reconnect, all programs are closed and
log files indicate that I'm logged off when RDC disconnects. This happens on
only 1 out of 4 computers that I connect to remotely, AND, it does not happen
all of the time. I cannot figure out why it is happening.

I would like my session to NOT log off, just disconnect.

Any tips?

It shouldn't be happening that way. I have never heard of it happening and
I doubt it has anything to do with the client - which is the only thing
(other than other people logging into the machines after you have
disconnected) that could be causing it in the way you describe (1 out of 4
and inconsistently...)

Are you using the start menu to do this, or just closing the session using
the "X"?

I am closing using the "X", which is what I do on all of the other machines.
I can try using the disconnect via start menu and see if this makes a
difference. the log off versus disconnect happens erratically (or so it
appears) so it may be a bit before i know if this is all that is needed to
remedy. do you know if there is anything in the event logs to look for that
might provide a clue as to when/why a log off might be executed after the rdc
disconnect?

thanks,
LT
