If the files got removed, why waste the CPU cycles and disk I/O to compress
files that get deleted? Because compressing old (long since last used)
files does NOT remove it. It does what it says: compresses them.
the utility compresses old
files which simply could be
programs that you haven't
used for a while.
but when you finally use those
program(s) that had their
files compressed,
windows will uncompress them
at the time you run the old
programs.
its simply a space saving
feature and doesn't imply
that the old files are obsolete,
just not regularly used by you
or windows..
