disc clean up problem

When trying to do a disc clean up I either get no pop up window at all or it
does appear with about three green progress bars but it freezes there. I
have left and come back an hour later with no progress.
Any ideas as to the problem.

Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.

Try going to run,type:cleanmgr /SAGESET Set youre files to clean,then return
to run type:cleanmgr /SAGERUN

Start>Run>type in:%temp%>ok
select all the files, press Delete.
Open the Control Panel Internet Options applet.
Select the General tab, then click Delete Files.
Select the "Delete all offline content" check box, then click OK.

Disk Cleanup freezes during the Compressed File Phase: This edit corrects
the problem:

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
