Disappearing Task Manager, msconfig, and regedit

Help!


Task Manager, msconfig and regedit disappear seconds after opening. Did a
re-install, same result. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Are you on a network or at home?

If you are on a network your company's Group Policy may be preventing you
from using these applications. If you are at home, what version of XP are
you running? Is it up-to-date? Do you have a virus scanning software
installed and up-to-date?

I found a solution to this problem.

First I copied taskmgr.exe from my windows/system32 directory onto the
desktop and renamed it mgrtask.

Opened taskmgr by double clicking "mgrtask on my desktop.

I hit CTRL+alt+del and watched which process had activity. For me it was
MSGinaV.exe. When I shut that process down, I could use regedit and
msconfig.

I removed MSGinav from my registry, now no problems.
