Disappearing messages

Using outlook 2003, When I try to receive messages from my account with btyahoo the inbox shows the message appearing but then immediately disappears before I have chance to open it. They do not go into deleted items or any other folder. I have tried removing the account from outlook and reinstalling it, checked the POP and smtp settings but no effect. I have recently installed broadband with talktalk but these problems predate this and I have no probs retrieving talktalk e-mail. I have McAfee security centre installed at default settings if that is relevant. Please help
