Disappearing DOS Window

While working on another problem in the networking group I had the
occassion to use the Start Run "ipconfig" file. After one use, attempts
to reuse results in a brief flash of the DOS prompt window and then
nothing. This happened on both my XP computers. Any idea what`s going on
here?

START | RUN | Type 'cmd' (without quotes) & press ENTER

Type: ipconfig /all & press ENTER or ipconfig /? & press ENTER to get a list of
options
