disappearing cd-rw

if i reboot,then check the toshiba cd combo i see my E drive is labled
cd-rw. when i try toburn a cd the drive will not see the disk. when i go
back to my computer the cd-rw has changed to cdr. i have win XP pro and a
roxio E cd creator. HELP. ralph
 
are you using rewritable cd's? or are you trying to burn cd-r cd's which are not rewriteable?
