Disapearing desktop

Hello all.
When I go to use my computer after my screen saver has
started, I find I no longer have my desktop picture. I
get a blank screen of the color indicated in the display
properties in the desktop tab. I reset my desktop and the
picture comes back but I find this a little annoying.
This is a new install and I have the microsoft plus
package also.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rightclick open area in center of screen and click Properties. Click the
Desktop tab and select your background, then CLICK APPLY AND OK t
set and SAVE settings. Many people just click OK and that does NO
save the settings.
