Since installing XP SP1 (I have Home Edition), I cannot
avoid having to "login" (click on my user name during
boot up). Can anyone tell me how to do this? I've
deleted all other users, tried telling it to have all
users login the same way (but not sure if I succeeded).
I was successful in configuring my girlfriend's PC, so I
know it can be done...

Click Start, Run and type "control userpasswords2", and click Ok.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
option, and click Ok.
