Disabling Office Animation Runtime Download

P

P. Friel

We're trying to publish various presentations as HTML in
different versions of PowerPoint. In PPT XP and 2003, if
there are animations in the presentation, HTML code is
added to force you to download the Office Animation
Runtime if you do not have PPT XP or 2003 installed. We do
not want people viewing our presentations to have to
download anything except the presentation because if they
choose to not accept the download the animations don't
work.

The presentations we're using save fine in PPT 2000 and
the animations work, so we know we don't need the added
animation features PPT XP & 2003 give us. Now we don't
want to force the people creating to only use PPT 2000 in
case they have a newer version installed. What we want to
do is save the presentations in HTML like 2000 does,
without the need for a download.

Is there a way to disable the inclusion of the Office
Animation Runtime download code when saving as HTML in PPT
XP or 2003 and have it save any animations as it would in
2000?

Thanks.

You could try Tools, Options, Edit tab and put checkmarks next to "New
animation effects" under "Disable new features" -- then output to HTML and see
if it still requests the download of the additional file.

If so, consider leaving the setting as above, then using a centrally available
computer or computers with PPT 2000 to do the actual conversion to HTML.
